Atlas Tales - The Information Resource for Timely/Atlas/Marvel Comics
Atlas Tales Help

HOWTO:
1) How do I see if you have any information about Marvel Tales.
  • Choose Marvel Tales in the alphabetical navigation list across the top of the page while on the Titles tab.
  • A list of the issues will show in the middle os the page. I call this the "graph". It tries to show graphically when the issues were published. For Marvel Tales you can quickly see that it was published sparsely at first and then monthly by the end of its run. You will also see brief summaries of any information available about individual issues. The issue number is a link to more information on that issue. The blue rectangular icon (that is supposed to represent a book cover) signifies that a cover image is available. If a super-size image is avaliable - the cover will be gold instead of blue. An icon that looks like a open book (it will be to the right of the cover icon) will signify that a story scan is avaliable. A gold open book signifys a super-size story scan. Any credits will be summarized to the right - "co:" means cover. If a creator's name is in brackets it is unsigned - followed by a question mark mean it is a guess - all pretty standard notation from the timely-atlas list.
2) How do I get information about Navy Action 1?
  • First of all select Navy Action from the title dropdown list.
  • You can see the issue summary in the middle. Looks like there is an image, cover credits and story credits (right after the cover (co:) credits).
You can put your mouse over the cover and/or scan icons for a preview of the image(s).
Click on the red issue number in the "graph" on the right side of the screen to get to Navy Action 1 information page
  • Once the issue page appears, you will see information about Navy Action 1. You can click on the cover image for a larger view.

3) What do the brackets around an artists name mean?
  • "[ ]" (ie. [Maneely], [Kirby]/[Rule]): the art is not signed but the art is recognizable and is certainly this artist(s).
  • "?" (ie. Ayers?, Burgos?: This is a guess - not entirely sure but this artist is possible.
  • "Unknown": no idea who this is.
