Privacy Policy for Atlas Tales and Charlton Tales

This Privacy Policy explains how Zendz Studios (“Zendz Studios,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), the developer and operator of Atlas Tales and Charlton Tales, handles information when you use either website (the “Websites”) or the Atlas Tales mobile application (the “App”). Together, the Websites and App are referred to as the “Services.”

Information you provide

You can browse the Websites and use the App without creating an account or providing your name, email address, payment information, or other profile information.

If you create an optional member account on either Website, we collect your email address, password in hashed form, and any display name you provide. We also store information you choose to add to member features, such as owned comics, wanted comics, quantities, grades, notes, and related collection details.

If you contact us through either Website or by email, we receive your contact details and the information you include in your message. The App may prepare an email containing basic app and catalog details, but you can review and edit the message in your email application before sending it.

Website member accounts and My Comics

Website membership is optional. When you register or use an account, we process the information needed to create, authenticate, secure, and support that account. Depending on the features you use, this includes:

• Account information such as your email address, optional display name, account status, email-verification status, and account creation and update dates;
• A securely hashed version of your password. We do not store your password in readable form;
• Security and authentication information, including login attempts, verification and password-reset activity, password-change dates, session identifiers stored in hashed form, IP address, browser or device information, session activity and expiration times, and session revocation information;
• My Comics information you choose to save for owned issues, including the issue identifier, number of copies, grade, acquisition date, and condition notes; and
• My Comics information you choose to save for wanted issues, including the issue identifier, quantity wanted, priority, desired grade, maximum price, and notes.

We use this information to provide sign-in and account recovery, protect accounts from unauthorized access, synchronize My Comics across signed-in devices, show collection totals and saved status, and provide collection editing and export features. Authentication events may also be used to investigate abuse and diagnose account problems.

The Websites send transactional messages needed to operate accounts, such as email-verification and password-reset messages. Our email-delivery provider receives the destination email address and message information needed to deliver those messages. We do not use Website member accounts to send marketing email unless we separately ask for and receive any consent required for that purpose.

Signed-in members can review and edit My Comics, export their collection, sign out other sessions, and permanently delete their account through My Account. Account deletion removes the active account, saved My Comics data, authentication tokens, and active sessions, subject to the temporary backup retention described below.

Information handled when you use the Services

When you use either Website or the App while it is online, requests are sent to our servers to provide searches, comic details, images, pricing information, eBay listings, account features, and catalog updates. These requests may include:

• Search terms and filters you submit;
• Identifiers for the titles, issues, creators, characters, or stories you request;
• Catalog version and update information;
• Account, session, and collection activity when you use member features; and
• Standard technical information normally transmitted with an internet request, such as IP address, request date and time, and device or browser information.

We use this information to deliver requested content, maintain and secure the service, diagnose technical problems, and improve the reliability and usefulness of the Services.

Website accounts and cookies

The Websites use cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary to operate member sessions, protect forms, remember authentication state, and provide requested features. If you sign in, the Website creates a session record that may include a session identifier, IP address, browser or device information, last-active time, and expiration time. You can end the current session by signing out and can revoke other sessions through your profile.

The Websites may also use analytics technologies to understand aggregate traffic and usage. On the production Websites, Google Analytics may receive information such as page activity and standard device, browser, and network information. Google handles that information under its own privacy terms. Browser settings and applicable consent controls may allow you to limit cookies or analytics, although blocking necessary cookies may prevent member features from working.

Information stored on your device

The App stores its comics catalog, catalog-update status, preferences, recent searches, and recently viewed titles, issues, creators, and characters locally on your device. This local information supports offline use and makes it easier to return to recent activity. Recent activity can be cleared using the App’s “Clear history” control. App data can also be removed through your device settings or by uninstalling the App.

Device access

The current version of the App does not request access to your precise location, contacts, camera, microphone, photos, or advertising identifier. It checks network availability to decide whether to use online or offline catalog features; this status is not used to track you.

Analytics, advertising, and sales of information

The current version of the App does not include third-party advertising, analytics, or crash-reporting software development kits. As described above, the production Websites may use Google Analytics. We do not sell personal information collected through the Services.

Third-party services and links

The Services may display links to external websites or services, including eBay, the Grand Comics Database, Google, and other reference sources. We may receive compensation when you make a purchase through certain eBay links. When you open an external link, the third party receives information associated with your visit and handles it under its own privacy policy. Your email provider similarly handles messages you choose to send. We do not control the privacy practices of these third parties.

How we share information

We may disclose information to service providers that host, deliver, secure, or maintain the Services; when required by law or valid legal process; to protect the rights, safety, and integrity of users, Zendz Studios, or others; or in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of the service. Service providers process information according to their agreements with us and, where applicable, their own privacy terms, including the analytics practices described above.

Data retention and deletion

App information stored locally remains on your device until you clear it, remove the App’s data, or uninstall the App. Server request records are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and comply with legal obligations for the service, after which they are deleted or de-identified. Emails are retained as reasonably necessary to respond to and maintain records of your inquiry. Website account and collection information is retained while your account remains open. You may permanently delete your account and its associated collection information through My Account, or request deletion of other personal information by contacting us using the address below, subject to applicable legal obligations.

When you delete your account, its information is removed from the active service. Residual copies may remain temporarily in restricted system backups: daily backups are retained for 5 days and weekly backups are retained for 14 days. Backups expire automatically according to those schedules and are not used for ordinary service operations. If a backup must be restored, we will take reasonable steps to ensure that previously completed account-deletion requests remain effective.

Data security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information, including encrypted HTTPS connections for production Website and App network requests and hashed storage of Website account passwords. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children’s privacy

The Services are general-audience comics reference resources and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Services. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so we can review and delete it as appropriate.

International use

If you use the Services outside the country where Zendz Studios operates, your information may be processed in that country and other locations where our service providers operate. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those in your location.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the Services, our practices, or applicable requirements change. We will post the revised policy at this URL and update the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through the Websites, App, or another appropriate method when required.
