- Russell Arden Bankson (1889- 1975) Born in Mount Hope, Wasington; Barkson was an author of numerous short stories, articles and books; mostly westerns. He lived for ten years in the Washington DC area in the 1930s, was the information specialist of the Topaz War Relocation Camp during World War Two. He worked as city and assistant managing editor for the Spokane Daily Chronicle. Married for 62 years, he spent most of his life in Spokane.
